The original Coinhead Studio was created in 1990 as a home studio by producer, singer, songwriter and musician Courtney Audain. His sparkling talent, nurturing personality and production skills have inspired many artists in Austin, Texas. Due to the overwhelming response received from his clients and colleagues, Courtney decided to build a new recording studio where he and other engineers could record and produce bands, singer/songwriters, and voice-over talent. Coinhead Studio was reborn in June of 2004 as a freestanding modern recording facility in Northeast Austin.

Coinhead Studio was listed as a "Studio of Note" in XLent, the weekly entertainment magazine of the Austin American-Statesman.
